Diahann Carroll born Carol Diann Johnson; July 17, 1935 – October 4, 2019) was an American actress, singer, model, and activist. The first child of John Johnson, a subway conductor, and Mabel Faulk Johnson, a nurse; music was an important part of her life. In the late 1960s she would break a major ethnic barrier on the small screen.
Diahann Carrol launched her own fashion line during the fall of 1997. She also partnered with Butterick and McCall's for her stylish sewing patterns.
